Las Vegas Marketing: Localize Your Digital Marketing Now

Apr 2020

empty las vegas boulevardLas Vegas has seen all non-essential businesses shut down by an official order from Nevada governor Steve Sisolak. Nevada’s newest ghost town faces harsher news as the coronavirus continues to shut down local businesses and halt tourism.

The statewide shutdown included the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which is the largest convention center in Las Vegas and the largest authority for tourism to Las Vegas. Recently, the LVCVA announced they will be handling their own marketing, canceling contracts with marketing offices around the globe who help drive tourism to Las Vegas.

How will this affect the Las Vegas market and local businesses?

What This Means For Las Vegas

The LVCVA is canceling its 2-year contracts with international offices that heavily market tourism to Las Vegas. The Vice President of communication and government affairs, Lori Nelson-Kraft, had this to say, “Due to the limited accessibility from the global markets, the LVCVA is going to be managing our international efforts.”

Tourism is the backbone of Las Vegas’ economy, and without it, the income from the business that is anticipated at this time of year has been greatly diminished. Las Vegas will lose valuable traction in the city’s push for inbound visitors.

What This Means For Your Business

If your business wasn’t closed by the shutdown, your opportunity to keep the ball rolling is in full effect. Take advantage of this time to flex your critical thinking skills and stay afloat during this crisis. Getting creative with marketing your business is going to be necessary to keep your business going. If you can find alternatives for your products or find additional ways to enhance your services, this is the time to start making changes.

Without the extra business from tourism, you must appeal to your local customers. Customers want to help their favorite local businesses, so remind them that you’re still open and have a lot to offer. Cutting off your marketing efforts is not a wise decision at this time, because you may lose the audience you currently hold. Keeping your customers engaged is vital.
