The use of LinkedIn has grown exponentially in the last few years. Utilizing LinkedIn can expand your professional network and help build your business. There are many simple things that you can do to boost your engagement on LinkedIn without having to set aside a large block of time.

Post Regularly

The algorithm for LinkedIn will favor those who post regularly, whether it’s two, three, or five times a week. The results can take time, but your content will be more likely to reach a greater audience if you are posting on a consistent basis. You can diversify your content about your company by sharing videos, news about events, new hires, retirements, etc.

Engage with Others

Being active on LinkedIn is more than just posting your own content. One way to create more traffic for your professional network and business is by engaging with other users’ content too. This may be joining in on discussion topics related to your industry or congratulating others on reaching new career milestones. If you are able to find time to positively interact with others, your network will be more likely to interact with your content in return.

Use Keywords

Adding keywords to your profile and descriptions that are relevant to the jobs and clients that you want to interact with will help catch others’ attention. You want your profile to be easily searchable and provide the essential words and phrases that clearly communicate your expertise. LinkedIn provides more information on how to use powerful keywords throughout your LinkedIn profile.

Have a Professional Headshot

Having a professional photo is important, for it’s the image that the LinkedIn community will see every time you show up on someone’s feed as you engage and connect with others. We recommend investing in a high-quality photo that reflects the formality of your industry. LinkedIn has estimated that if you include a profile photo, you may receive up to 21x more profile views and 9x more connection requests.

Ask for Recommendations

Recommendations are a great way to showcase your expertise on your profile. It’s a way for your profile viewers to see what others think of your work. You can request recommendations from former teachers and professors, colleagues, or anyone else you have worked with throughout your professional journey who can speak on your behalf.
