If you’re sick of getting alerts for every single interaction on LinkedIn, relief is on the way! The company has unveiled new technology that will tailor to your notification needs. Air Traffic Controller is a single platform that aims to streamline communication across your email, mobile, and SMS. Here’s what you need to know about the free service to make sure it caters to your needs.

How it works

Tech experts have developed an adaptable algorithm, which will monitor interactions to “better determine the right frequency of communication you get from LinkedIn, at the right time, and through the right channels.” For example, if you only check your LinkedIn notifications on your computer at night, you will start only receiving email notifications in the evening.

The same tailored technology will also prevent you from getting spammed with multiple connection invites at once. Now if you receive several invites in a short period of time Air Traffic Controller will automatically format the invites into one comprehensive email.

What this means for you

LinkedIn officials say they are now sending 50% fewer emails than ever before and receiving 65% fewer complaints. In a recent blog post the company explained, “We realize that a one-size-fits-all method doesn’t work. We want to give you emails and notifications based on what your prefer, not what’s best for us.” This savvy new service appears to be LinkedIn’s way of making amends with users who were frustrated with the large number of notifications they received in the past.

In order to make this new algorithm work for you, stick to a consistent schedule and the technology should pick up on your needs in no time.
