How to Use Your Instagram Business Account, woman in flower shopMore businesses are turning to Instagram every day to reach their customers. With over one billion monthly users, your brand could benefit from tapping into this audience, too. Instagram allows businesses to sell products right on the platform, have real conversations with customers, and showcase a unique side of their company’s personality. You can even run targeted ads toward specific groups of people and turn them into loyal customers. Here are tips on how to effectively use your Instagram business account.

Show – Don’t Tell – Your Services

Instead of just posting products or constantly telling people about yourself, use Instagram to show them how great your services are. Create a video or image that displays how your services can provide a solution to their problems. Don’t forget to mix in some behind the scenes images and really demonstrate how dedicated your staff is to your customers. You can include GIFS about your mission or a how-to video, or even an image that embodies your core values. Try a series on Instagram stories or IGTV. The key is to be creative and find a unique way to tell your story and connect with your customers.

Complete Your Profile

No matter what industry you’re in, your bio and profile photo may be the first thing customers see. Make sure that your bio is fully filled out with your company name, website, a searchable description, and a professional profile photo. Instagram allows you to include hashtags, emojis, and tagged accounts in your bio. We recommended using your company logo as the profile photo. Or, if you are the public face of your company, you can use your picture as the profile photo. Once you’ve created a solid profile that can easily be found, start creating content that resonates with your target audience.

Use Hashtags

Hashtags are a great way to get your content and profile discovered. Use relevant hashtags on all your posts to increase your reach and be discovered by new users. You can also create a company or campaign-specific hashtag and encourage users to add it to their posts as well. That way, you can easily track who is talking about your brand. Remember to not overuse hashtags on your account. Although Instagram does allow a maximum of 30, too many can look spammy and actually hurt your reach and engagement.

Collaborate with Other Accounts

One of the most successful ways to expand your reach on Instagram is to work with other accounts. Collaborating on projects with other brands or influencers allows you to use their audience as well as your own. Even just adding mentions and tags in your photos or captions can go a long way. Maybe your brand worked with a non-profit. Maybe a customer shared a great photo of your product. Maybe you want to shout out to a partner company for supporting your business. Whatever the case may be, Instagram is about networking. It’s important to use this channel to build real relationships.

Whether your company sells products or offers services, Instagram can be a great tool to increase your brand awareness and reach more potential customers. There is no one-size-fits-all tactic for running a great business account. It’s important to find out what works best for you and helps you reach your goals.
