Facebook Live Updates, Twitter Tweet Editor, and Instagram Stickers | Social Media Trends

Dec 2016

Facebook is ushering in the New Year with some massive updates to its popular live streaming feature! Meanwhile, Twitter has Facebook Live Updates, Twitter Tweet Editor, and Instagram Stickers | Social Media Trendsasked for users’ input on what features they would like to see next year, and Instagram is taking another jab at Snapchat with a new “stickers” feature on posts.

These are the latest social media trending stories in the news right now.

Tweet Editor Feature A Major Possibility

Have you ever sent out a Tweet to your entire follower list only to realize its needs to be heavily edited? Help might soon be on the way.

Twitter’s CEO, Jack Dorsey, recently asked users what feature they would like to see integrated onto the platform. The overwhelming response pointed toward the ability to edit Tweets after they have already been made live.

As for how this would work, Dorsey hinted at the possibility of a five minute window for Tweet edits, as well as the possibility to edit Tweets at any time, regardless of how long they have lived on a timeline.

Some critics have stated that allowing for any editing whatsoever may prove dangerous over time, as it would allow for publishers to retract and change opinions or facts that have already been shared with the masses.

Where do you stand on the new possibility of Tweet editing?

Instagram get Sticky with new Stickers

Taking a page out of Snapchat’s playbook, Instagram is now giving people the ability to add fun stickers on their posts that allow for location sharing, time, and weather updates.

To access the fun new feature, all users have to do is tap on the “smile face” icon from within the app and the newest feature will allow for geo stickers and more to be added directly to photos.

Additional features include the ability to wrap text onto an image as well as video, plus easier options for recording video, such as one-touch recording.

The latest features come after multiple attempts by Instagram to entice a new and younger follower demographic by developing similar features already offered by Snapchat. The platform also implemented live video streaming similar to parent company Facebook’s platform.

Facebook Slowly Rolling Out Live Streaming Updates

Facebook is releasing some highly anticipated updates to its live streaming capabilities, but unfortunately will only be tested with high profile users initially.

The first new feature, “team prompts,” allows for a draft creation and reminder of future live posts. This option will serve as a great tool for posting during optimal times and reaching a larger audience once it is released to all users.

In addition, users will soon be able to moderate comments based on keywords of their choice. The will also have access to a new editing panel that will allow for adjustments over how a live feed will appear to their viewers.
