It’s no secret that social media is a crowded space. From friends to family, businesses large and small, and even influential pets, everyone has a social media account.

In such a crowded space, how do you create content for your business that is authentic, resonates with your audience, and plays into your larger digital marketing strategy? There’s a few things you can do to help your business stand out amongst the noise and shine.

Utilizing a few creative, out-of-the-box tactics can help your business decide which channels to be on and stand out amongst competition.

Target The Right Audiences

First, you have to define who your business is talking to on social media. Talking to everyone sounds ideal, but it is way too broad and will lead to messaging that doesn’t resonate with anyone. This is a very common social media mistake that businesses make.

To begin identifying your target audience, you will need to know things like where they live, their age, and their needs. What they “need” should be the problem that your business can solve for them. Once you have these sorted out, you can begin talking to your audience with content they want to see and view as beneficial, and this can help you determine on which social media channels your business should live.

Build Real Relationships

Each of your followers represents a real person who is interested in what you have to say, and likely in your product or service. Since these are real people and potential customers, they want real relationships, not social posts that are talking “at” them instead of “to” them.

Make sure to respond to comments and messages in a timely manner, share user-generated content, and engage with your fans online. All of these show that your brand genuinely cares about your followers and wants to foster those relationships.

Offer Incentives

While this tactic can become costly if used too frequently, giving your followers a special incentive as a “thank you” maintains loyalty and keeps them excited about your page.

Offering product giveaways, a discount, or a free trial are great incentives to build – and keep – your fanbase.
