According to Google, almost 50 percent of internet users look for videos related to a product or service before visiting a store. Eighty-one percent of people have been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video, says Wyzowl. It’s clear that video is pretty important and should be a key element in your marketing strategies.
In knowing the importance of video, you can get really frustrated with the thumbnail that Facebook automatically selects for your great piece of content. How are you going to entice your audience to click and watch the video if the thumbnail isn’t inviting?
Lucky for us, we have the option to change the video thumbnail manually on the platform. To get rid of that awful default thumbnail, and increase your views, follow the steps below on how to change your Facebook video thumbnail.
On your company’s Facebook page, access your library of uploaded videos on the navigation menu to the left.
Then, click the video with the thumbnail you’d like to edit.
With the full video displayed on-screen, click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner (the drop-down menu) and select “edit video.”
Once in the editing screen, choose “Thumbnail” on the right-hand side of the video, under “Video Details.”
In the Thumbnail window you can choose one of three options:
- Select one of the many default images that Facebook has auto-generated for you:
- Choose a custom image to upload from your computer, for instance, when you’ve made a custom Thumbnail graphic in Canva or Photoshop.
- Or third, you can go through all the frames in the uploaded video and choose the one you prefer.
After completing these steps, you will now have a new saved Thumbnail on your Facebook video!
Did you know that companies using video enjoy 41% more web traffic from search than non-users?
