Instagram continues to update its platform to make a more comfortable place for everyone, Twitter gives advice for holiday trends, and Pinterest picks up one of Facebook’s useful features.
Instagram Restricts Weight Loss Advertisements
It is no secret that social media can be a scary place for younger generations, but it doesn’t have to be! Luckily, Instagram agrees. This month, the platform announced that they will be limiting content that encourages weight loss. Anyone younger than 18 will be restricted from seeing photos or advertisements that promote weight loss products. If the post attempts to sell these products or makes an extraordinary claim about losing weight, it could be removed altogether. This change could allow users to feel more comfortable on the platform without feeling judged by their physical appearance. As a result, some beauty companies may move away from Instagram in favor of platforms with fewer ad restrictions.
Twitter Has All the Tips for Tweeting
Twitter understands the importance of tapping into holiday trends on social media. This month, the platform released the “do’s and don’ts of Halloween hashtags” and we couldn’t agree more! If you’re looking to create content that stands out, here are the most important points you need to know:
- Don’t overdo it – stick with 1-2 hashtags
- Use Halloween hashtags throughout October
- Don’t let your tweets get lost in the crowd
Remember that you won’t be the only person sharing Halloween content. Be as creative as possible and make your tweet stand out!
Pinterest Follows Facebook’s Lead
We have noticed that Instagram and Facebook have a history of taking popular features innovated by other social media channels. Well, the tables have turned after a familiar reaction tool was rolled out on Pinterest this week. Strictly limited within group-boards, this tool allows users to give quick feedback and be more collaborative. Pinterest says it is very easy, “just click from a range of reactions alongside a Pin including a heart or clap to show you love an idea, or a lightbulb to express that it’s inspiring, or a question mark to show you’d like to discuss an idea more.” Sounds familiar, huh? At least Facebook knows they are doing something right!
Instagram has 1 billion monthly active users on the platform today.
Do you need to start marketing your company on social media, but aren’t sure how to get started? Or maybe you’ve been posting content, but can’t seem to get the results you want.
