Nowadays, using your trusty Smartphone is a great and convenient way to take quality, creative shots of the things that matter most.
Here are a few tips to make the most out of your smartphone camera:
Clean the Camera Lens
Let’s face it. Our phones (and thus, our camera lenses) come in contact with numerous surfaces each day, in addition to touching our oily hands and fingers. Taking the time to wipe your lens with a microfiber or soft cloth will allow you to take sharper pictures.
Consider Using Unique Angles
The most common way to frame a picture is by holding your phone either vertically or horizontally. While these are terrific tried and true techniques for snapping a picture, consider using other angles. Try taking your next photo sideways, or experiment with high and low angles. These will often give your photo the edge and the uniqueness it needs to garner more likes, shares, and interaction amongst your followers. Be different and have fun!
Use the Rule of Thirds
Photographers and filmmakers alike love this handy trick, and for good reason. The rule of thirds allows your photos to stand out and speak for themselves, without being overbearing or harsh on the eyes. The rule of thirds entails framing the subject of your photo in 2/3 of the frame. This allows for the last 1/3 of the frame to give the subject some much needed space. Experiment with the Flash
Usually, the flash feature on our Smartphones is set to autoflash, which triggers the light to turn on when low-light settings are detected. While in certain circumstances the flash is absolutely necessary, on other occasions a photo will look better with the flash off. If your photo looks too white or too washed out, try taking it again without the flash.
Hold Steady
Our phones tend to be lighter and less stable than a traditional digital camera. As a result, it is easier for the camera to move when a photo is being taken, which then leads to a blurred picture. To make sure your photos come out sharp and in focus, remember to hold steady with each and every snap.
