How to Build Brand Awareness and Reach your Audience

We’re in the middle of an epic flu season. What do you reach for when your nose is running? A tissue, or a Kleenex? That, my friends, is brand awareness at its finest.  There are brands out there that have become so well known that their brand name has replaced the item they sell. Let’s start from point A before we get ahead of ourselves though. You’re looking to grow your awareness online, and digital marketing is the smartest way to accomplish this task.  Here are two of the most important ways to get closer to Kleenex level awareness for your brand.

No one ever made a difference by doing the same thing everyone else is doing.  The same goes for your business.  Don’t be afraid to be an expert in your industry.  This is how you will create trust and instill confidence in your audience.  Make sure you know what you’re talking about first, and don’t shy away from creating or curating content that showcases that expertise.  If you own a yoga studio, partner with a historian who can guest post on the history and rise of yoga in western society.  Give your audience more of what they want.  Stay in your lane, but don’t be afraid to do things differently.  That is where you’ll set your business apart.

Think about what you like to see online.  If you follow a specific brand, is it because you want to be sold in every single post?  No. It’s probably because you enjoy the content they post, and you get something out of it – whether that’s information, entertainment, or inspiration. Buying comes after developing trust in a brand. There are two things that a brand should do online that have nothing to do with selling (at first).

You should allow your audience to feel as if they are a part of your brand.  You do this by posting personable content and giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the business.  The second thing is by interacting with your audience.  Don’t let comments sit dormant for too long as this often makes people feel like they aren’t valued.  Even if a comment isn’t a direct question, taking the time to interact with your audience will show that care about their opinions.
