A Day in the Life of a Content Editor at KWSM

Each month, we want to show you what a day in the life of a Content Editor (internally referred to as a CE) looks like at KWSM: a digital marketing agency. First up is yours truly – Taylor Glaze. Fun fact, there are two Taylors on our team, which has created a fun environment when referring to one of us.

I’ve been with KWSM for nearly a year-and-a-half now working on a variety of wonderful clients. I’ve managed a real estate agent, shopping center, local mayor, city government, beauty salon, design platform, restaurant and bar, and even the opening of a musical in Las Vegas. Yes, this did include a 24-hour trip to launch the show and walk a red carpet! It was one of my favorite moments at KWSM.

As you can see, based on the different client types, my day to day varies. However, I have some of my routines in place, as well. Internal company meetings are a must. Every morning, all three of our offices gather over video conferencing to check in with each other; we refer to this as our huddle. It’s a very effective way to discuss any issues or problems that could have arisen, and communicate on more time-sensitive actions. We also have one-on-one meetings each Monday with the managers and individual CEs to stay accountable for that week’s tasks.

I also have the responsibility to take weekly/ bi-weekly calls dependent on my clients’ schedules to check-in and stay on top of their accounts. When I’m not in a meeting or on a call, I’m creating content, writing weekly blogs, creating monthly newsletters, and working to create compelling campaigns to tell my clients’ stories better across social media. Speaking of social media – in case you were wondering, we manage anything from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, blogging, e-communications, digital ads, press releases, photography and videography, and our web team can develop and maintain websites.

Part of coming up with campaigns includes hosting video shoots and events which are a really fun part of our jobs. While they don’t happen each week, when they are on the schedule, they spark creativity and collaboration. This is something that many of our team members thrive off of, including me!

To top it off, KWSM provides a lot of extensive training to better our skills, hosts quarterly guest speakers that benefit us professionally as well as personally, and encourages team bonding with frequent team outings and celebrations. All of these are helpful to break up having mundane routines.

Working in social media is fun, we do play on our phones to stay up to date with the latest trends, but it’s accompanied by a lot of hard work and passion.
