Everyone is always looking for the answer to the age-old question, “When is the Best Time to Post on Social Media?” Generally, people tend to be more active at common times in the morning and evening on popular social channels. However, a recent social report is showing a 2020 trend you should be aware of. Here are the best times to post on social media broken down by channel.
Which day do you think most users are on Facebook? The answer may surprise you. The optimal day to post on Facebook for businesses is Wednesday around lunchtime. This hump day slump could be the reason why so many users are turning to Facebook to get them to the weekend. Their most active time from 11 am – 12 pm is a similar trend many companies have experienced in the past. On the opposite side, Sunday posts receive the least engagements.
Surprisingly, Instagram continues to follow the Wednesday lunchtime trend of user popularity. However, Friday is also a popular day that businesses can experience higher engagements on posts uploaded around 10 am. Like Facebook, Sundays are the least active days for Instagram users. Many people tend to stay active during the weekend and have less downtime to scroll through their feed.
Wednesday and Friday posts also reign supreme for Twitter users. Although the 8 am to 2 pm time frame does capture many active users, 9 am hour posts perform the best. Alternatively, Saturday’s are actually the worst day to tweet. Of course, there are exceptions when it comes to current or live events.
LinkedIn user engagement varies slightly in comparison to it’s more relaxed social counterparts. Updates posted on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays receive the most user engagements. The best times to post on each of these days is different. Wednesday posts should be uploaded between 8 am and 10 am. Updates on Thursdays should go up at 9 am or between 1 pm and 2 pm. Friday’s most engaging time is 9 am. Be aware too that Sunday and Monday have lower user activity, and your updates may not perform as well.
As you’re building your content for your channel, take these days and times into consideration. Although they may be popular suggestions, every brand is different. It’s important to find a schedule that works specifically for you.
