An annual social media report shows some exciting trends for 2019, Facebook is making it easier to message your friends across any of their apps, and Instagram is FINALLY releasing some new ways to link stories, making them much more impactful.
Instagram’s Newest Features Will Make Stories Your BFF
If you’ve been hesitant on going all-in on Instagram stories for your business, the time is now. Recently Instagram added a feature to business profiles allowing the option to promote stories, and this week it started rolling out the ability for users to create shareable links for an entire story! This option will allow brands to use the link feature to drive followers to their website, DMs or to their social media profiles via the content in their story. These links are going to be great for e-mail newsletters, Facebook posts, or text blasts. Previously, stories seemed to hold lesser value to brands given their 24-hour nature, but with the addition of archiving and highlights, combined with the new shareable links and promotion features, Instagram stories may be what your brand needs to get those results you’ve wanted.
DMs, PMs and Messages All In One Place
Facebook will soon to allow cross-messaging features between three of their apps: Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and Instagram. This change would allow users to directly message users on the other two platforms, in addition to their platform. Facebook is moving towards this cohesive messaging effort in hopes to promote engagement on the messaging features across the platforms and aim to make this feature the most used mobile messaging feature (as opposed to others such as Apple’s iMessage.) The win for businesses will be a consolidation of inboxes and the opportunity to respond to each platform messages with a consistent voice and response protocol.
