Facebook is tweaking its feed to give you better quality, and more posts that you may engage with longer.
Facebook announced in a post that it had tweaked its algorithm aiming at spotlighting the content that audiences are truly engaging with. Here is an excerpt:
We’re learning that the time people choose to spend reading or watching content they clicked on from News Feed is an important signal that the story was interesting to them. We are adding another factor to News Feed ranking so that we will now predict how long you spend looking at an article in the Facebook mobile browser or an Instant Article after you have clicked through from News Feed. This update to ranking will take into account how likely you are to click on an article and then spend time reading it.
Facebook says that the change will roll out in phases, and most won’t notice a major difference in their feeds. Some pages might see a small increase in traffic and others may see a small decrease. Pinterest provides better access for Apple iOS users.
In a move that focuses on better mobile engagement, Pinterest updated its iOS app to provide a more robust experience for the more than 100 million pinners.
The platform revealed the upgrade in its blog. Among the highlights:
- A modernized look that focuses on easier pinning
- Faster load speeds up to 3x the pre-upgrade speed
- The app is now available in 31 languages
With the successful rollout on iOS, Pinterest says it will work on upgrading Android devices next, followed by web upgrades for people pinning on desktop and laptop computers.
