Are you looking to add a stamp of authenticity to your Facebook page? Getting verified is a great way to establish brand credibility online. The verified badge lets people know your company is authentic, and helps your page show up higher in search results. Here are some things to keep in mind when trying to get verified.
Start by reviewing your company’s information; this includes items like your website, email address, description and bio. Facebook will review your information before giving you a verification badge, so it’s important to make sure your profile is accurate.
Next, take a look at your posts. Your account should be a representation of your brand and that includes your content. Make sure your posts are professional and don’t contain incorrect grammar, spelling or off-brand wording. You should delete any posts that do not fit this criteria.
Finally, you’ll have to fill out the official verification form. You’ll want to start by picking a verification type (Page or profile). Remember, your page or profile must comply with Facebook’s terms of service and include a cover photo, profile picture, a name that follows Facebook’s guidelines, content posted to the account, and be “Follow” enabled.
Facebook also requires an official document in order to review your request if your account represents a person. That includes a government-issued photo ID that shows your name and date of birth (driver’s license or passport).
If your account represents something other than a person, you must provide a document with an official seal/watermark of your organization like your organization’s phone or utility bill, a certificate of formation or articles of incorporation.
Keep in mind, even if you follow all the rules of this process there’s no guarantee Facebook will approve your verification request. But with all the right components in place, your chances are certainly much higher.
