Instagram is a great channel to share image-based content with your audience and give your followers a closer look at your business. The more followers you have, the more exposure your brand gets. But how do you get more users to follow your business? Here are some tips:

Be Consistent

Like all social media channels, you must be consistent. Not only with posting at least once a day – but no more than two or three times – but also, with the kind of content you’re posting. Make sure you’re being consistent with your brand. Also, keep in mind that just because your business may sell products/services, they don’t want to be constantly sold on this. They want to follow you because they feel a connection with your business. Don’t get into the habit of posting sales-y product photos or “buy now” images. Instead, take the opportunity to give your audience a closer look on what it’s like to work at your business and tell your story. Bonus tip: Studies show that using faces on photos on Instagram get more engagement.

Use Hashtags

Hashtags are a word or phrase with a “#” prefix that allows images to be more searchable. They are a powerful way for your photos – and your business – to be exposed to a wider audience on Instagram. Use a few relevant hashtags for every photo you post. However, don’t use too many hashtags, or else your photos will start to look spammy and you might lose current or potential followers.

Network with Other Users

Once you’ve posted a photo and used proper hashtags, it’s important to go into your home feed and start networking with other users by liking and commenting on their posts. Also, now that Instagram has expanded the ‘Explore’ tab on the channel – which is a feed of photos from other users displayed based on photos you’ve ‘liked’ in the past – you can use this area to find users to follow and engage with. If you’d like to search for a specific hashtag to network with, go into your ‘Search’ tool and type in the hashtag you’d like to search to find people that have posted photos using that hashtag.

By consistently doing these three things on Instagram, you will likely see your followers grow and hopefully your business, too!
