LinkedIn Unveils Volunteer Marketplace

LinkedIn has unveiled the volunteer marketplace, a place where non-profit organizations can list volunteer positions and opportunities for LinkedIn users. The jobs are not free to post, but the company notes that the profits gained from the listings will benefit the philanthropic organizations that helped to create the volunteer marketplace. Facebook will now feature trending topics for all users alongside their newsfeed. The trending topics listed will relate to each user’s personal likes and interests, and will feature content that has recently spiked in popularity, in contrast to content that is popular daily on the social media channel. When clicked, the trending topic will list a brief description, along with a list of posts related to the topic. For more on this story, click here.

A recent social media study suggests that online retailers are showing preference for the famous Pinterest ‘Pin It’ button, in contrast to the famous Facebook ‘Like’ button. According to the study, the ‘Pin It’ button is the first preference of retailers, with 62 percent of retailers using it. Twitter comes in at a close second with 61 percent of retailers using it. Facebook comes in third place with 59 percent of retailers using it, and Google + comes in at fourth place with 42 percent of retailers utilizing it. This may suggest that ‘pins’ are worth more money than ‘likes’! Read more here.
