Instagram Video: Broadcasting Your Lunch and Enhancing Your Business

With over 16 billion photos, 1 billion “likes” per day, and 130 million users, Instagram has already changed the way many of us think of sharing photos. Yes, there was a time long ago when a lunch went un-photographed, unfiltered and unshared with the world. Now Instagram has given you the capability to showcase your lunchtime escapades in action.

So what does this mean for you as a business owner? The good news is that you’ve got another great and helpful tool that can be used to reach your customers on a more personal level. The maybe-not-as-great-but-still-good news is that it’s another tool that needs to be utilized in order to stay current in the ways that your customers are communicating. The best news is that it’s very easy to use.

When you go to take a photo on Instagram, you’ll now see a movie camera icon. Tapping it will enter you into video mode, where you can take up to fifteen seconds of video. You’ll also find thirteen filters built specifically for video so you can still show off your content with your Lo-Fi or Walden filter. When you post a video, you can even select your favorite scene from what you’ve recorded as your cover image so your videos are informative even when they’re not playing. The app is set up so that the steps are easy to follow and all you really have to do is select what you like and hit “next”.

Because it’s so easy to use, it’s time to get creative in using this new feature to enhance your business. If you’re a café, you may want to snap a video of someone brewing a special coffee or feature one of your employees reciting the daily special. If you’re a retail store, give a quick tour of the front room or show someone using your new merchandise. If your business provides a service, show it or capture a quick testimonial of a satisfied customer. There are a lot of different ways your business can use Instagram to improve your social media marketing, and it would be a shame to miss out.
