I am sure you have heard this several times before but since it is so important; I thought I might as well state it again.
Your email list is one of the most important assets to your business.
However, you do not have to take my word for it. You can read this great article from seven of the leading Internet marketers in the industry who also agree.
Now that we have established that an email list is important to your business lets dive right into how you should grow it.
Growing your email marketing list is not easy, but when you implement the correct strategy it can be a great tool for generating qualified leads for your business.
What is Premium Content?
Premium content comes in many formats, but all premium content has one thing in common- they offer value to their audience.
The premium piece of content on your website must offer value to the visitor. Without value, there is no way any visitor would exchange his or her contact information for a piece of content.
Here are a few ideas of premium content that you can create:
- eBooks: A downloadable book that help solve a problem that your audience is currently facing.
- Whitepapers: Research-base papers that offer exclusive information and provides insight into your audiences industry
- Templates: Downloadable templates that your audience members can use on their website or in other areas of their business.
- Anything with value: No one knows your audience betters than you. If you can create an irresistible piece of content that you know your audience will love then you should create it.
Exchanging Premium Content
One of the best ways to grow your email list is to offer visitors coming to your site a piece of premium content in exchange for their name and email address.
After the user enters their information, an email is automatically sent to their inbox with the piece of premium content.
Their name and email address automatically gets added to your list. You now have a new qualified lead because the piece of content you are providing relates to the product or service that you’re trying to sell.
Remember that if your content is valuable enough to your audience, they will gladly exchange their email address to receive your premium content.
Their email address and content information is small price they are willing to pay in order in order to receive content that helps them solve a current problem they are facing.
However, if no one is coming to your website it will be challenging for people to find out about the premium content that you have to offer. Check back next week when I discuss how to drive traffic to your website using a content funnel.
