When you own a business there are times you will feel overwhelmed and lack the support system you need. LinkedIn is great for business owners because it connects you with individuals that have been through, or are going through, similar situations to yours. If you take advantage of the many benefits LinkedIn has to offer, you’ll find that you aren’t alone with the business challenges you face. Here are some ways you can utilize your personal LinkedIn profile in order to help your business succeed:

Show Professionalism

LinkedIn is different from other social media channels because it allows you to connect with others on a professional level. Take advantage of the “About” section on your personal profile because it is one of the first places users will look when they find your account. Always use professional pictures for your profile, and be sure to keep it up-to-date with all of your accomplishments. Neglecting sections of your profile or failing to provide a professional look will make potential connections less willing to trust that you are well versed in your industry.

Stay Active

Posting content regularly on your LinkedIn profile will show others that you have a good understanding of the industry. Try to post a few times a week, and post content that showcases your knowledge and industry expertise. Posting original content you’ve created will increase your credibility. Be sure to interact with your LinkedIn connections by commenting on or sharing their posts as well. By staying active, you will stay top of mind for your connections, and attract professionals with similar interests that want to connect with you.

Join Groups

LinkedIn gives you access to an abundance of groups to network with other professionals in your industry. Some groups are created specifically for business owners, and topics discussed range from sales and finance to operations and recruiting procedures. There are also LinkedIn groups related to certain industries, geographic locations and interests. You can find groups to join for support at any stage of your business’ growth. Don’t be afraid to get out there and meet like-minded individuals.

Figuring out how LinkedIn can best help you and your business takes time, but in the long run, it will all be worth it. Remember to keep your profile up-to-date and stay active on your account. Overall, have some fun connecting with other professionals who have goals similar to yours.

Companies that post weekly on LinkedIn see a 2x higher engagement rate.
