Facebook recently updated their advertising campaign structure and changed the process for creating advertisements.
Facebook Campaigns are now created in the following order:
- Create your campaign
- Create your Ad Sets
- Create your Ads
1. Create your Campaign
Each advertising campaign will now correspond to a single advertising objective, such as gaining likes on your Facebook page or driving traffic to your website. The “page post engagement” section has changed to “boost your posts.” Boosting a post through the ad manager allows you to configure the advertisement so that only your fans will see it rather than your fans and their friends.
2. Design the Ad Set
After you have set your campaign objective and appropriately named your campaign, the next step is to design your Ad set.
This step allows you to create your target audience. You can do this by uploading:
- Your customer email list
- A list of people who visited your website or viewed specific web pages
- People who have taken a certain action on your app or game.
If none of these options satisfy your advertising needs, you can create your own custom audience by giving Facebook specific details about your target market.
The ad design step is where you will also set a budget and a schedule for the campaign. Facebook will display a daily estimated reach bar based on the target audience that you created.
3. Design the Ad
The final step of the campaign creation process is where you will set your ad text, call-to-action buttons and add links, videos or images for each advertisement.
Each ad set can include multiple images, and Facebook will automatically spilt-test them for you. They will optimize your campaign to show the best-performing ads more often. However, you can manually control this process by turning each advertisement on and off as you would like.
Overall, the new ad structure makes the campaign creation process easier to understand and allows for companies to more effectively spilt-test their advertisements.
