Don't Be Modest: Modifying Your Privacy Settings for Maximum Exposure on Pinterest

Using Pinterest for your business is a great way to network with potential clients and customers. It is also an amazing tool when it comes to gaining exposure for your business, services and/or products that you provide. However, there are default settings within Pinterest (and many other social networking channels, for that matter) that affect whether your profile will show up in search results. Pinterest has an option in their settings that enables you yo keep your profile private from search engines. If you are trying to gain exposure for your business, this is obviously something you want to avoid.

To make sure that your content shows up in the search results, first locate and navigate to the “Settings” tab. Click on your name and photo in the top right-hand corner of the screen and you will see it as a selection on the drop-down menu.

Next, review your search privacy settings. If your “Search Privacy” section shows a red “Yes”, then it means that your content is private and, therefore, not showing up in search results. Here you are also able to do things like clear your search history, clear your recent contacts, and set up your email notification preferences.

It’s good practice to review your settings every so often to make sure they are where you want them to be. Sometimes a glitch on the site or a change in site policy will put them back to default. This doesn’t happen very often, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

We know your content is great, so make sure the world gets to see it!  Don’t be modest – give the people what they want!
