Whether your business posts on all social media channels or only one, there are questions you should be asking yourself. In the always-evolving world of social media, it is important to stay up to date and position your brand correctly. There are simple actions to take to improve your social media channels; you just have to ask yourself the right questions.

Is the platform right for my business?

With 78% of people having a social media profile according to Statista, it might be appealing to just put your brand on all channels. However, this isn’t the right choice to make. You need to be able to choose the right social media for your company.

For example, if your business is very visual and you sell many products, Instagram might be the platform for you. If your company offers a service and has lots to say to potential consumers, you may consider Twitter.

It is important to remember that your business doesn’t have to be on every social media channel to be successful. In fact, it is often most beneficial to dedicate yourself to a few that you see as the most realistic.

Am I posting what people want to see?

If all you post on Facebook are links to your website, you might want to rethink your strategy. Social media platforms are used to build a community around your brand and with your brand. Get your loyal customers to interact with you, and be sure to interact back in a timely fashion. Post pictures that show familiar faces to anyone who buys your product or uses your service. Share tips or facts about the industry you are in accompanied by your opinion. This will encourage conversation and bring people to your website.

Do I have a plan?

Social media requires that you dedicate some time to it. You won’t get far by just posting every now and then. Create a content calendar that shows what you post and when. This is an easy way to make sure your content doesn’t get redundant or boring across your channels.

After a matter of months, switch up your plan and continually adjust to what you see your audience is engaging with the most. For example, if your How To videos are getting a lot of likes, you might consider sharing those on a more frequent basis.

Get your social media ball rolling the right way by asking these questions. Establish which platforms are the best, develop or curate great content, and follow a plan to keep your audience engaged.
