How actively are you pursuing new contacts on LinkedIn? LinkedIn is a powerful channel to grow your professional network, but chances are you don’t have the time to sit down every day and seek out new people to connect with. But, here’s a useful LinkedIn feature that will help easily expand your LinkedIn network in just a couple clicks.
LinkedIn has a feature that allows you to search and add new contacts that are already associated with your email address. With just a few clicks, LinkedIn will go into your email and find people whom you’re not already connected with, and then you will be able to easily add them.
How do you do this? Follow these steps:
Log into your LinkedIn profile, and then go to “Add Connections” under the “Contacts” tab on the main menu.
Pick your main mail server, and then enter in your email address. If your mail server isn’t listed, then select “Any Email.” A window will pop up asking you to enter in your password and to verify that you’re allowing LinkedIn access into your email. Don’t worry, LinkedIn won’t save any of your personal information!
After that, you’ll see a list of your email contacts that you’re not yet connected with on LinkedIn. You can go through this list and check off the people you want to connect with, and then add them easily with the next click.
Easy right? This feature is great because LinkedIn will literally pull every contact in your email that you’ve ever been in touch with. Now, maybe you’ll run across a past client, or a potential customer that you forgot to follow up with. An invitation to connect with these types of people will act as a subtle reminder to them that hey, you still exist! Who knows, maybe you’ll rekindle a business relationship, or an old contact will refer your business onto someone else. If anything, you’ll have a chance to expand your network on LinkedIn, and that’s always a good thing.
