There are a lot of reasons why video should be a part of your online marketing strategy, but I’m going to focus on three of the most important reasons. There are a lot of different ways video can be used to enhance your online strategy.
The Know, Like, and Trust Factor
Video is one of the most immediate ways to build a connection with your potential customers. Think about the different forms of media you can produce – pictures, blogs, graphics – they all can create a connection, but often takes longer to do so. A 1-minute video allows people to instantly get to know you, see your personality, hear your voice and build that emotional connection. It simulates meeting you in person, so it’s much easier for people to get an idea of who you actually are. It can tell your story in a compelling way, and takes much less time to consume than reading a blog post or article.
SEO Value
If you are creating videos for your online marketing, we recommend that in most cases you host them on YouTube. Why? Well, YouTube is the second most used search engine in the world. It’s second only to Google, and Google owns YouTube. Because of that, hosting your videos on YouTube gives you a lot of exposure to people who are searching for a product or service that you offer. However, you have to make sure your videos are properly optimized for search engines. Simply uploading the video to YouTube without filling out the title, description, tags and other information isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Increased Engagement
A recent study shows that on Facebook, video posts get 120% more engagement than text posts. That’s a lot more engagement! People are looking for ways to go deeper on social media channels. Sure, it’s nice to read a text post here or there, but if they see a video in a post, it provides an easy opportunity for them to learn more about your business. Plus, people like video – it’s fun!
Video can be extremely powerful if done correctly. Does that mean you should you scrap all your other marketing plans and just make videos? Definitely not! However, incorporating video into your mix of marketing content can certainly make a positive impact on your online presence and help you spread the word about your business.
