Video content creation can be a great way to express your brand’s message in a visual and engaging way. If you’re spending the time and energy producing quality content for your company, you want to make sure your target audience is accessing it. Some companies manage their YouTube channel with a “build it and they will come” strategy in mind, but this is not the most affect approach. Getting your content in front of the right audience is a powerful sales tactic, but particular steps must be taken in order to make it happen.

Set a Channel Trailer

Create, upload, and set a channel trailer to better establish your brand on YouTube. This video will be the first thing your audience sees when they click on your profile. Use this space to introduce your company and explain to the viewer what type of content you will be providing. A powerful and creative channel trailer has the ability to persuade an interested viewer to click and explore more of the videos on your channel.

Optimize Your Videos

When you upload any video to your channel, you should always have search engine optimization in mind. Use Google Keyword Planner to compile a list of the most searched keywords in your space. Incorporate these terms in your description AND your video title. Optimizing your videos using these keywords will make your videos more popular in search and shown to a wider audience.

Custom Thumbnails

Don’t rely on the images automatically generated by YouTube to create your thumbnail. You can upload a specific image that you would like to use to grab your audience’s attention and persuade them to click on the video. This image will be a higher quality photo than the still image YouTube created, which often are blurry and pixilated.

5-Minute Rule

When creating content, follow the 5-minute rule. Odds are your audience has a short attention span. You only have a number of minutes to engage your audience and get your message across. On YouTube, the videos that are most successful are usually between 30 seconds and 2 minutes. Try to keep it short and avoid posting videos longer than 5 minutes.

Trending Topics

Most of the time your audience will find your video when they are searching for a specific topic. If it is applicable, create content based on trending topics that are currently being discussed online. These videos are sure to have an interested audience and these keywords are guaranteed to be searched, giving you a better chance to engage a new audience.

Share Meaningfully

Once your videos are uploaded and optimized, share the videos on your social channels. Keep these videos in mind when you are looking for future content.

A well-optimized video has the potential to drastically increase video views for your YouTube channel. Setting up your videos following these simple rules will drive more users to your channel and put your creative content to better use.
