Every musician, dancer, painter, or professional of any kind has learned tricks throughout their years to help make parts of their job a little easier. The same goes for creating social media content. You don’t have to be a pro right off the bat, but you can learn about different apps that can help you quickly create compelling content.
Text Apps
Word Swag is a free and easy-to-use app that allows you to quickly put a graphic together. You can either use the pre-made backgrounds it provides for you, or you can upload your own photo. From there, you’ll insert your text and choose from a variety of font designs. You can even customize the font color, add a distressed effect, and manipulate the transparencies of the font and background. Once you’re finished, you can save it to your camera roll or share it to one of your social media channels.
Legend is another free app, but this one brings your text to life. Each pre-set is an animated GIF that gives your text-based graphic a whole new look. Due to these being animations, there isn’t as much freedom with text and color since it’s all pre-set, but there are a lot of great options. You can either save the GIF to your camera roll, text/email it, or share it via Instagram.
Photo Editing Apps
When it comes to editing your photos, there is an endless amount of apps to use. Whether you’re looking for something similar to Photoshop’s capabilities or you’re searching for vintage filters, there is a little something for everyone.
Snapseed and VSCO are both free apps that have a friendly user interface and allow you to easily edit your photo with presets. You’ll also be able to adjust the strength of each filter and have a variety of sharpening/adjustment tools.
Enlight is one of my all-time favorite editing apps. It’s $3.99, but if you’re really into design, it’s well worth it. It will take some time to learn all of its capabilities, but it’s a lot of fun to play around with. The interface is simple to use and provides a lot of similar effects that can be done in Photoshop including blending, reshaping, and tone curves.
Your content represents your brand’s story. Find the story, find the vibe, and don’t be afraid to jump in and start creating!
