There’s been a huge amount of change in the world of social media. LinkedIn is testing its own version of Snapchat’s Stories. Instagram is changing profile layouts and Google is helping businesses stand out and market themselves as Christmas gets closer. Here’s the latest news about the most popular social media apps.

LinkedIn Lets Student Voices Be Heard & Seen

LinkedIn is currently testing its own version of Snapchat’s Stories with student app users in the United States. These videos stories are called “Student Voices” and can be viewed for seven days in each user’s Recent Activity. LinkedIn encourages users to use Student Stories to share positive and interesting content.

In an interview with TechCrunch, LinkedIn’s Product manager Isha Patel said that Student Voices would, “Help students grow their network, prepare for life after graduation, and help potential employers learn more about them.”

There is no word yet on when LinkedIn plans to have Voices available for all types of professionals but if testing goes well for the student demographic, other professionals across the social networking app can expect to be able to use it in the near future.

Instagram Gives Profiles a Facelift

Instagram users should start to notice that their profiles look different. The widely popular video and image sharing app will be changing everything from tabs and buttons to icons. The ultimate goal of these changes is to make the profiles easier to use and to appear cleaner. Fortunately, the layout of photos and videos isn’t expected to change. According to Instagram’s blog, the changes will be rolled out to all users over the next several weeks. The changes made to each profile won’t be the same everyone though since Instagram will be testing out different variations of profiles across their user base. A final layout is expected to be revealed one Instagram finalizes the best format for profiles.

Google Helps Businesses Stand Out With Free Promotional Images

Google announced that it will be helping businesses promote themselves through Small Thanks: an image creation hub that lets businesses make images they can share on social media. In addition to sharing reviews, businesses can also share information about their services and offerings to customers. Now that Christmas is only weeks away, Google is offering a number of holiday-themed images for use in Small Thanks, such as gingerbread cookies and Christmas trees. Google recommends that businesses, “Share these on your social media channels and as posts on your Business Profile on Google, so they’ll be seen by potential customers in Google Search and Maps.”
