Recently, LinkedIn removed the ability to post a status update from your profile.  You can now only post an update from the home page.

You used to be able to post an update from your profile, and you could look back and see your activity there as well.  Your activity feed showed up directly below the main box where your profile picture is.  Additionally, you could view another person’s activity in the same spot if you looked at their profile.  This feature has been removed.

LinkedIn now allows you to post updates only from the home page.  It’s unclear why they would do this, but my initial thoughts are that they are trying to drive more traffic to the home feed where there are more articles and ads to view (ways for them to monetize the site).

Since the activity feed is no longer visible on my profile, I was initially confused as to where I could see the updates I had posted.  If they aren’t on your profile, then where are they?  Well, you have to filter the home feed.

As you can see, there are many different ways to filter the home feed, but if you click on ‘Your Updates,’ it will show you the updates you have posted.  However, you will only see your updates from the last 2 weeks.  Beyond that, you won’t be able to see what you’ve posted.  This limited update history has not changed; even when updates were posted on your profile, you could only see two weeks of posts.

Do you have a question about posting updates?  Comment below and I will respond to you as soon as I am able.  Also, please follow our LinkedIn company page.  We post valuable information for anyone marketing their business on social media.
