Whenever a new update comes up on Instagram, one of the first things that people talk about is how many filters have been added to the palate.
Instagram filters are a great way to make your pictures look fantastic, but one often-overlooked capability on the platform is the ability to customize your pictures in very specific ways.
By hopping from Filters to the Tools tab on Instagram, you have the option to adjust the picture with greater control. The sliding scale on each effect allows you to apply only as much of it as you desire. You also have the option to add a filter to the picture after applying your edits.
Here are the options available to users who want to achieve a more unique look under the Tools category.
Adjust: Rotate an image, or alter the photo’s vertical or horizontal perspective.

Brightness: Make the photo brighter or darker.
Contrast: Make the bright areas of the picture brighter and the dark portions darker.
Warmth: Shift your photo’s colors towards warmer or cooler tones.
Saturation: Increase or decrease the image’s color intensity.
Color: Add a specific color to either the photo’s shadows or highlights.
Fade: Give your photo an aged look by adjusting the midtones.
Highlights: Brings attention to the image’s brighter areas.
Shadows: Draws attention to the darker areas of the image.
Vignette: Darken the edges of the photo.
Tilt Shift: Select a linear or radial section of your photo to remain sharp and blur everything else.
Sharpen: Add crispness to your photo.
