We have previously discussed the importance of creating a premium piece of content that you can use to grow your email-marketing list. Now, let’s talk about how to create an online content funnel to drive visitors to your website and ultimately get them to sign up for your email list.
When you drill it down, there are two ways people can find your website. The first is through a search engine such as Google, and the second is through a social media channel.
In order to drive traffic successfully to your website and entice those users to sign up for your email list, you must have a proper content funnel in place.
Below is an example of a content funnel that you can use to convert website visitors into email marketing list subscribers.
Content:
Branded content sits on the top of the funnel. Content comes in a wide variety of forms such as blog posts, unique photographs, podcasts, and videos. The content your company is producing must be relevant to your target audience in order to fuel inbound traffic to your website.
Creating high-quality content is the best way for people to find your business, and it is the one of the most effective ways to develop a strong presence in search engines.
Consistently posting relevant content drastically increases the chance that your business will be found online.
Reach:
Reach is how many people are in contact with the content that you are creating. In order for people to find your content, you must publish and promote it on social media channels or other business blogs. When a user clicks on your published content, they are led directly into the next stage of the funnel.
Act:
After a person clicks on your published content, they are directed to your website. Once they are there, you will want to make sure that your site is populated with relevant, useful and problem-solving information that the visitor can explore.
This is a decision-making step in the funnel where visitors can decide if they trust the content that you are publishing. If your content helps to solve a problem, they are more likely to trust you and view you as an authority on the subject matter.
Convert:
This is stage where you capitalize on the marketing efforts you have put forward. After you have earned a visitor’s trust, you will be able to convert them into a signing up for your email marketing list.
If you are producing good content that is solving problems for your audience, then at the end of each piece of content, you can ask the user to sign up for your email list.
An example of this would be to a call-to-action at the end of your blog post stating, “If you enjoyed our article subscribe to our newsletter to have weekly social media tips delivered straight to your inbox.”
If your content routinely helps people overcome obstacles, they are more likely to sign up for your email list.
