How Often Should Your Business Post On Social Media?

Creating a connection with your audience is important, but how often is too often?


There is a fine line between being active on social media and being bothersome to your audience. Depending on the social media channels you are using, you are going to want to create a strategy based on the number of times you are posting.

Not all industries will be the perfect fit for every social media channel.  Therefore it is important to evaluate which ones are reaching your audience effectively.

LinkedIn is a great tool for professionals who want to interact and learn from others from their industry or industries that they partner with. On average, businesses post 3-5 times a week on this channel. Posting every other day, along with networking, shows your audience you are invested in creating professional relationships. Sharing other user’s content is not the same as posting original content, so don’t be hesitant to network with your audience in this form in addition to posting.



Facebook’s algorithm is constantly changing, but It does recognize when you are not active on your page. If you are not consistent, your posts will not be prioritized on your audience’s feed. Posting twice a day shows your audience that you are actively trying to connect with them, without being too aggressive or “spammy.”  Genuine interactions are highly valued on Facebook, so make sure your content is beneficial and valuable to your audience.



Because Twitter allows a much shorter amount of character space to post, short and quick thoughts are best. Twitter feeds fill up very quickly throughout the day.  If you only post once a day, your tweet will not likely gain much recognition. We recommend tweeting 5-10 times a day. This channel is great for starting conversations, replying to tweets, and sharing from other profiles. Because Twitter is the channel that will have the most posts, make sure you are spreading out the timing of when you tweet.



If your business is using Instagram, posting once a day is a great approach.

This channel is focused on imagery and visual appeal, so posting pointless content will hurt your businesses profile more than help. Instagram users are more apprehensive of who they follow, so it is important to ensure that you aren’t overloading your fans. If you want to get more information to your audience in a shorter amount of time, Instagram Stories are a great way to do so. These posts will disappear in 24 hours and will not crowd the feed.


In order to have a successful presence on social media, you must recognize the audience present on each channel you run. Every platform requires different methods to be successful. There is no fixed number for posting on social media. The best way to go about it is by trying out different posting methods, recognize what is getting the best results, and stick to a consistent schedule.  


But posting on these channels means more than the number of times you post, what is most important is the value of your content.
