We get this question a lot. While there is a difference between linking an Instagram post versus linking an Instagram story, it is somewhat a trick question. You can link Instagram stories to a website or source, but there is a catch. The other trick is that you can not actually link a specific Instagram post. Have no fears; we’re going to break down the missing link.
Instagram Story
Instagram allows users to link their Instagram stories if the business or person has a minimum of ten thousand followers. We don’t make the rules. But unfortunately, we have no choice but to follow them. If you are a business that has over ten thousand followers, then you’re in luck! When you go to post a story, a link icon will appear in the upper right-hand corner of the screen next to the other story features. It’s as simple as clicking the icon and pasting the link to where you want it to go. Then, you can use stickers and text to tell your followers to “swipe up!”
Instagram Post
Instagram doesn’t YET allow individual posts to be linked. However, you can put a link in the bio section of your page. This is a great place to keep your company’s website. But you also can switch that home page out from time to time with different landing pages. It’s your job to let your followers know in the Instagram post to use the “link in bio!”
Speaking of all these links, if your business doesn’t have a suitable website to link to you have some work to do. All social media is only as good as the website behind it. While it may not seem like a big deal, it is the main priority when it comes to boosting your marketing efforts.
