Virtual Networking Opportunities for Atlanta Business Owners

Networking during COVID-19 looks totally different from the traditional ways business owners are used to. With no public speaking events or conferences to attend, many professionals in Atlanta are struggling to find new, digital methods of getting their message out and forming the relationships they need in order to bring in business.

Luckily, there are a few digital marketing tools that have proven to be especially effective during the pandemic for professionals who rely on making connections to succeed.

Here are a few of our favorites.

Facebook Groups

In the last 5 months, we have seen a noticeable increase in Facebook Group member engagement as people are desperately seeking human interaction while they quarantine and work from home. Within these groups, you’re able to promote your services and engage directly with potential customers, potential referral partners, peers and colleagues, etc. On behalf of our clients, we spend time researching and joining relevant and credible groups that are likely to bring the connections they need. Not only that, but we also have great success in creating new Facebook Groups and encouraging the right people to join.

For example, one of our clients is a special needs planning firm and advocacy group. When COVID-19 hit, we created a Facebook group where special needs individuals, families, advocates, teachers, and partners could develop a sense of community with each other. Not only has this group become a place where our client can share her knowledge, expertise, and resources with members, but she is also able to connect with people around the country who share her passions and goals, and who help promote her content to their existing audiences!

Leveraging LinkedIn

Of all the social media platforms, LinkedIn is the best for networking with other professionals. Not only can you search for new connections based on things like industry, job title, and state, but you can send a customized introductory message to explain who you are, why you are reaching out, and how that person would benefit from connecting with you. This is a game changer, as it is much more effective than sending a “blind” connection request.

LinkedIn is also great for maintaining your existing connections. Engage with your leads and referral partners by staying active on your newsfeed. Like, comment on, and share content from these connections to stay top of mind in the future. Often we see that the people our clients engage with the most in this way are the people who most frequently return the favor.

ProVisors Atlanta

Last, but certainly not least, consider joining a virtual networking group(s) of other professionals and thought-leaders in Atlanta! One of our favorite groups that many of our clients and agency leaders are involved in is ProVisors.

Don’t worry — this isn’t a place for people to spam you with offers and elevator pitches. The platform was created as a space for trusted advisors (who have been vetted upon their application) in various industries to create and leverage helpful relationships without blatantly “selling” their services to each other. It’s all about supporting each other, developing relationships, and then opening the door to give referrals to members of your group as you see fit.
