Yes, it’s official. Christmas is officially here. Thanksgiving is done, houses are adorned with lights and the holiday cheer is among us. That means one thing. Shopping. And with shopping comes the stress of finding the money to pay for all those Christmas gifts. If you are like me, you probably have multiple brothers, sisters, parents, in-laws, nieces and nephews to buy for. The price tag for all those gifts can add up, quickly, which is why I like to turn to Social Media to find deals. How, you ask? Well, here are a few ways to get discounts and deals you might not otherwise get.
Search Facebook for specials. If you are the type that likes to figure out exactly what you are going to get before you get to the store, then you are at an advantage. A lot of companies are offering discounts for liking their fan page, or for giving them your email address (don’t worry, if they put you on a list you don’t want to be on, you can opt-out later). Do the research to find the deal, it will pay off for you.
Use Foursquare and Yelp and CHECK-IN! I can’t tell you how many discounts I get just for simply checking in to stores and restaurants. It’s so simple and it can give you instant discounts that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise. If you are at the mall, it pays to check-in at each store you are going to purchase from.
Use Google and search for discounts. There are a lot of coupons floating around the internet for every major retail store. Simply Google something like “Best Buy Coupons” and a whole multitude of coupons will be available. Just make sure to check the expiration dates and terms and pick which one will work for you. If you are shopping last minute, there are going to be a lot of coupons out there that others have posted, for your benefit.
Get your Groupon! There are so many group discount websites out there now, there is a deal for everyone. Since we are still a month out, at least search the largest sites for discounts on good presents. They are really pushing those right now and a lot of them really are great gift ideas.
There is really never a reason to pay full price for anything this time of year. Spending a few minutes searching for discouns could really save you a lot of money. Just remember to save some of those great gifts for the rest of us.
