Videos can be a great way to share information and grow your brand online. Creating valuable and informative videos will demonstrate your expertise in a particular field, and since YouTube has more than 1 billion users, uploading the video there can help you expand your reach to a wider audience. But, just as with any other social media channel, simply posting a video doesn’t mean people will see it. There are certain steps you can take to make it easier for your target audience to find your videos.

Complete Your Channel Information

In order to improve your ranking in YouTube search, make sure to completely fill out your YouTube channel profile. Choose a name that is brief, yet explanatory. Include a detailed description that includes keywords relevant to your business. Include a profile photo and cover photo that are in sync with your branding. Link your channel to your website and other social media channels, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Don’t Skimp On Video Information

While we’re on the subject, make sure to completely fill out information for each of your videos, too. Every video should have a title, short description, and link to your website. Include relevant tags and add annotations or cards to your videos when appropriate. If a thumbnail is not automatically generated, create one by taking a snapshot of a video frame. Make sure your video is public and organize your videos into playlists. When a viewer watches a video from a playlist, subsequent videos will automatically play, exposing even more of your content to the viewer.

Link To Your YouTube Channel On Your Website

Encourage visitors on your website to check out your YouTube page by linking to your channel or videos when possible. Include relevant videos in blog posts that link back to your YouTube channel. Include a link to your YouTube channel, along with your other social media links, in your header, footer, or another static area on your website. Visitors will likely click through to see, instead of just read, more about who you are and what you do.

Share Your Videos On Social Media

People who follow you on other social media channels may not be aware of your existing YouTube channel and the valuable information it can provide them with. To attract more viewers to your YouTube channel, share your videos across all of your social media channels. Avoid sharing all the videos at once. Instead, spread them out over time and mix it up. When one of your social media followers clicks through to watch a specific video, another video will automatically begin playing shortly afterward and if the content you’re providing is good, the viewer will likely watch more, engage, or even share your videos.

YouTube is the ideal social media channel for uploading and sharing videos, but the work can’t stop there. To get the most out of your videos, optimize your channel and share your videos. Utilize YouTube to it’s full potential to help expand your reach and establish yourself as an authority in your field.
