Helpful Resources for Atlanta Small Businesses During COVID-19

May 2020

I’ll cut right to the chase. COVID-19 has been scary — not just for individuals afraid of getting sick or losing their jobs, but for companies as well. No business owner wants to lay off any of their employees, temporarily close their doors, or risk having to shut down permanently with no money coming in to cover overhead costs.

In Georgia, Governor Brain Kemp has recently allowed some nonessential businesses to open back up (with safety precautions in place, of course).

During this time, we’ve seen various organizations around Atlanta continue to support local businesses and restaurants financially, creatively, and resourcefully. It has been encouraging to witness this community “come together” in unity to keep small businesses alive while they keep their employees safe.

As members of the Atlanta community ourselves, we’d like to give these heroes a shout out.

AJC offers free advertising to local restaurants during COVID-19 crisis.

One of the most deeply wounded industries during the pandemic has been restaurants. In response, The Atlanta Journal Constitution has been offering FREE online advertising to local restaurants through its “Support Local Restaurants” campaign in an effort to keep brand awareness high and help bring in sales through pick-up orders. We know very well that successful advertising has the potential to greatly impact a business’s ability to hit the ground running when doors reopen. This act of kindness is truly admirable, AJC!

Atlanta Downtown compiled a COVID-19 resource guide for small businesses.

One of the greatest gifts organizations can give during this time is information. Atlanta Downtown has compiled a detailed list of financial and technical resources for local businesses and restaurants to find the help they need — including grants, loans, educational resources, and ideas for how they can adapt their operations to continue making sales during quarantine. Gathering lists like these helps business and restaurant owners easily find a plethora of tools and sources of relief in a time where they are fearful and overwhelmed. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Atlanta Downtown!

Atlanta-based company Evident ID recently released a new app and platform to assist businesses in managing risk and ensuring employee safety as they return to work.

Not only is it important to help keep businesses up and running, it’s also crucial that plans are set in place to ensure their teams stay safe when the doors reopen. On May 15, Evident ID, Inc., a trusted leader in the secure and private exchange of personal information, announced the launch of Evident Health Status, a SaaS platform and mobile application that helps businesses manage risk as employees return to the workplace amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The application offers employers and employees the ability to monitor potential coronavirus exposure while protecting confidential health information. Shout out to Evident ID for protecting Atlanta employees as they return to work!
