Facebook has announced the arrival of Facebook at Work, which allows businesses to create their own self-contained social network among their employees. The system is being gradually introduced and is meant to mimic Facebook’s familiar appearance and behavior – News Feed, profiles and all.

LinkedIn in following suit by developing a way for current companies to open employee communications. The company will begin by enabling users to send InMail to co-workers, even if they’re not connected. Later this quarter, companies will be able to share content directly with specific groups among their employees.

A new initiative between the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Facebook will deliver AMBER Alerts to people’s News Feeds in targeted search areas. These alerts, which include photographs and other details about the missing child, are shown on mobile and desktop.
