Every three months, we invite local entrepreneurs and professionals to KWSM to speak to our team on topics that help with personal growth inside and outside of work. Having days put aside to focus on the well being of our team as individuals benefit the company as a whole.
Recently we welcomed Kraig Strom to the office to be our guest speaker for the day. Kraig is credited as the income engineer and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to managing personal finances. Kraig has more than 19 years of experience in the financial services industry, and since a majority of the KWSM team is made up of millennials, this was a helpful topic for those of us where this is their first and second job out of school.
What We Learned
When it comes to finances, our team learned that it’s all about building and protecting your financial castle. The first and foremost important part of this is the b-word, aka budget! Planning a budget that fits your current lifestyle is necessary to know if it’s sustainable or if you need to make serious life changes.
Your budget can be broken down into three categories, including your income, liquidity, and your legacy. Your income is your lifestyle, liquidity is for emergencies and opportunities to invest, and your legacy is for lack of a better term what you can’t take with you.
